I recently purchased a new 2023 Sweetwater 2086C Coastal Edition pontoon. The boat has factory installed lifting strakes. It is powered by a 90 horsepower Yamaha VMax SHO outboard motor. As 90 hp is the maximum horsepower allowable for this boat I was hoping to reach a reasonable cruising speed of 30 mph with two people on board and calm water. I had seen You Tube video of the same model boat and motor achieving 34 mph… Disappointingly I am not able to to get over 25 mph with a WOT. Is there anything that is reasonable in cost that can be done (prop, motor mounting hole adjustment) that would improve my speed?
